About Cannondale’s Synapse Plus Chamois
Synapse Plus Chamois uses a total of six layers throughout the pad, specially designed and contoured to provide maximum riding comfort. The outermost layer is a 2.5-millimeter-thick density 80 foam, providing cushioning without unnecessary bulk.
The thickest portion of the chamois–the place where a rider’s “sit bones” actually make contact with the saddle–measures a comfortable 14.5 millimeters and is constructed from three layers. The first layer uses 80-density foam at 2.5 millimeters thick, while the second layer features 120-density foam that’s 4 millimeters thick. The bottom layer of perforated, 8-millimeter-thick, 80-density foam wicks moisture and gives the chamois a plush feeling.
The last area of the chamois uses two layers of 80-density foam for a combined thickness of 10.5 millimeters. The lightweight, 2.5 millimeter layer provides flexibility and comfort, while the second 8 millimeter layer is perforated for shock absorption and moisture wicking.
The face fabric is EIT Max, an exceptionally soft, channeled, naturally bacteriostatic weave designed to rapidly transport moisture away from the rider’s skin.
